Plain-language change summary

The latest version of Bill SB 2650 adds specific provisions regarding the penalties for certain traffic violations. Notably, it stipulates that when a violation occurs on non-interstate highways and is ticketed by county police, the fines will go towards that county's Transportation Safety Highway Hire-back Fund instead of the state's fund. Additionally, it clarifies that both the Department of State Police and local county police have joint authority to address violations on interstate highways. These changes aim to ensure that fines collected contribute directly to local safety funding, which can enhance community oversight and street safety measures.
