Plain-language change summary

The bill SB 477 has been amended to clarify and expand on the definitions of actions that constitute coercion or control over a person, particularly in the context of labor and services. Notably, specific examples, such as blackmail and threats of financial harm, have been added to emphasize various forms of abuse. These changes are important because they enhance the legal framework for addressing and preventing human trafficking and involuntary servitude, thereby helping to protect vulnerable individuals from exploitation.
