Plain-language change summary

The bill was updated to change its title from the "Medical School Applicant Criminal Background Check Act" to the "Medical School Matriculant Criminal History Records Check Act." Additionally, the definitions for "matriculant" and "sex offender" were refined. Notably, the updated version specifically focuses on individuals who are conditionally admitted to medical school and defines "sex offender" with a more limited set of offenses, removing several previous charges related to prostitution. These changes matter because they clarify the criteria for background checks on students entering medical schools, ensuring that inappropriate offenses are excluded from consideration to uphold safety in healthcare education.
