The recent amendments to Bill SB 1620 add requirements for nursing facilities to notify designated case coordination units about pending discharges, along with providing contact information to residents and their representatives. This change ensures that residents and their support networks have more comprehensive resources and support during transitions, improving communication and care planning. Additionally, the amendments streamline the involvement of the State Long Term Care Ombudsman, which can help protect residents' rights during closures or transfers, ultimately enhancing oversight in nursing home operations.
