Plain-language change summary

The recent amendments to SB 1966 change the rules around conflicts of interest for state employees. It now prohibits any state employee who earns more than 60% of the Governor's salary from obtaining state contracts, whereas before it only applied to a narrower group of individuals. Additionally, the timeline for filing waivers for these contracts has been updated, ensuring more accountability. These changes aim to prevent potential corruption and ensure that state contracts are awarded fairly and transparently.
