Plain-language change summary

The latest version of HB 2067 includes a significant change regarding how juvenile delinquency registration is handled. The original bill allowed the court to make decisions about registration during a hearing, whereas the new version adds that the State's Attorney can actively petition to extend the registration term 90 days before it ends. This shift emphasizes the need for a judicial review of registration status and provides a more structured approach to how these cases are handled, which could impact individuals seeking to have their registration terms shortened.
