Plain-language change summary

The recent amendment to Bill SB 1874 clarifies that when a vehicle is relocated or towed, the person or company responsible must notify the registered owner and any lienholders within 10 days, using certified mail. This change aims to ensure that vehicle owners are promptly informed about the status of their vehicle, which can help reduce confusion and disputes over towing and storage fees. If the notification isn’t sent in time, the relocator may recover only a limited amount of storage fees from lienholders, thus providing some protection to vehicle owners.
