The recent amendment to HB 997 increases the compensation limits for cemetery trustees and certain board members. Specifically, cemetery trustees can now earn up to $2,000 a year instead of $500, while multi-township board members and community building board managers can receive up to $50 per day and $2,000 per year, compared to $25 previously. This change matters because it aims to attract and retain passionate individuals for these roles, thereby enhancing the management of community cemetery and township services.
