Plain-language change summary

The updated version of Bill HB 976 now includes provisions requiring offenders convicted of prostitution to not only receive addiction evaluation and treatment, but also to seek social service counseling and proper medical screening. This expansion of services aims to support individuals in addressing underlying issues that may contribute to their criminal behavior. By incorporating a broader range of supportive measures, this change highlights a shift towards rehabilitation rather than mere punishment, which could potentially reduce recidivism and promote better community outcomes.
