Plain-language change summary

The updated version of HB 351 adds specific language that allows courts to impose longer sentences for individuals convicted of first-degree murder if they have a history of domestic violence against the same victim. This change is important because it aims to enhance legal consequences for offenders who have previously violated protective orders, thereby providing greater protection for victims of domestic violence.
