Plain-language change summary

The recent amendment to SB 585 broadens the scope of open meetings that can utilize interactive video conferencing by allowing public bodies with jurisdiction that's not statewide to conduct meetings simultaneously at various locations. This change means that a physical presence isn't strictly required for a quorum; members present at different sites can still count towards it, promoting flexibility and accessibility for public participation. Additionally, it clarifies that state advisory boards are not held to the same quorum requirements, facilitating their operations. This is important as it better accommodates varying geographic needs and modernizes how public meetings can be conducted.
