The amendments to Bill HB 360 update the guidelines for representing children's interests in custody and support proceedings. The key changes include a clearer definition of the roles of attorneys and guardians ad litem, ensuring that these representatives have specific duties and obligations to the child, such as providing independent legal counsel and making recommendations based on the child's best interests. Additionally, the bill removes a section that previously authorized counseling for children in custody proceedings, streamlining the focus on legal representation. These changes are important because they aim to strengthen the legal protections for children in court, ensuring their voices are heard and represented effectively.
