Plain-language change summary

The recent amendment to SB 1503 lowers the threshold for when forest preserve districts must seek competitive bids for contracts from $20,000 to $10,000. This means that for any contract involving expenses over $10,000, these districts will need to advertise for bids and select the lowest responsible bidder. This change is significant because it aims to increase transparency and accountability in how public funds are spent, ensuring that more projects receive competitive pricing.
