Plain-language change summary

The new version of HB 678 includes the term "Limited English Proficient student academic content assessment" and clarifies that schools can use this assessment to better understand the abilities of students who struggle with English. This change allows for a more tailored approach to testing for these students, ensuring they receive a fair chance to demonstrate their knowledge without being hindered by language barriers. It matters because it recognizes the unique challenges faced by non-native English speakers and aims to provide them with a better opportunity for educational success.
