Plain-language change summary

The recent amendments to Senate Resolution 700 add a focus on how restoration and preservation programs for historic barns can enhance tourism in rural Illinois, particularly by leveraging interest in Lincoln and underground railroad sites. Additionally, the resolution now specifies that the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) should collaborate with local organizations, like the Illinois Barn Alliance, to better inform their study. These changes matter because they emphasize the role of local input and broader tourism opportunities, potentially benefiting rural economies.
