Plain-language change summary

The updated version of HB 1336 now requires teachers to focus on character education by teaching specific values such as respect, responsibility, and citizenship. Previously, the bill simply mandated teaching qualities like honesty and kindness. This change emphasizes a broader set of character traits, aiming to better equip students with the values needed to improve their behavior and promote good citizenship. This is important because it reflects a more comprehensive approach to character development in schools, potentially leading to a more positive school environment and community.
