The recent changes to Bill SB 2680 clarify the language surrounding auxiliary police officers. The amendment specifies that when these officers are on duty, they will also have the title of "conservators of the peace" and outlines their powers. This matters because it enhances the legal recognition of auxiliary police roles and reinforces their authority, which can lead to better coordination in public safety efforts. Overall, the amendment aims to provide clearer definitions and improve the structure of auxiliary policing.
