Plain-language change summary

The amendment to SB 2247 allows coroners to cremate unclaimed human remains, in addition to the current option of burial. This change is significant because it provides more flexibility in handling unclaimed bodies, especially when burial may not be practical. However, the amendment also ensures that cremation is not used if it conflicts with the deceased's religious beliefs or if the body needs to be preserved for law enforcement. This update could potentially streamline processes for treating unclaimed remains while respecting individual values.
