Plain-language change summary

The amendment to Bill SB 245 introduces a clear exemption from civil liability for professional engineers, architects, land surveyors, and structural engineers who provide free services in the aftermath of disasters. Now, they will not face legal repercussions for their good-faith actions, except in cases of serious misconduct. Additionally, the time frame for this exemption has been reduced from 90 days to 60 days following a disaster, making it more specific and immediate. This change encourages professionals to volunteer their expertise during emergencies without the fear of being sued.
