Plain-language change summary

The amendment to SB 41 has added new testing requirements for students, specifying that starting in the 2006-2007 school year, all pupils in the 3rd, 5th, 6th, and 8th grades will be annually tested in writing. It also retains testing in reading, mathematics, and science for certain grades, while eliminating previous provisions that restricted writing tests. This change is significant because it expands the subjects assessed, which may provide a more comprehensive picture of student learning and performance over time.
