What changed in the latest version
423 added · 415 removedPlain-language change summary
The latest version of SB 478 now specifies that alcoholic beverages can be sold at events featuring the Chicago Storm soccer team or WNBA games, but only until certain points in the game's timeline (before the game starts and at specific moments during play). Additionally, the language around where alcohol can be sold has been clarified, notably regarding a grocery store in Chicago affiliated with the University of Illinois. These changes matter because they aim to regulate alcohol sales more precisely around sports events and clarify restrictions on sales at specific locations, impacting local businesses and event venues.
