Plain-language change summary

The amendment to SB 1912 changes its focus from human services to health care workers, specifically regarding the hiring practices of health care employers. It establishes that health care employers cannot hire individuals with specific criminal convictions for roles that involve direct care for clients or patients. This matters because it aims to ensure safer environments for patients by preventing individuals with serious criminal backgrounds from working in direct care positions within healthcare settings.
