What changed in the latest version
959 added · 101 removedPlain-language change summary
In the latest version of Bill HB 244, changes were made to the Pharmacy Practice Act, clarifying the exemptions related to who is allowed to practice medicine and dispense certain medications without interference. Notably, language regarding the sale of compressed gases and household remedies was refined to clearly outline which items are exempt from regulation, ensuring that safe products remain accessible to the public. This matters because it helps define the boundaries for healthcare professionals and maintains consumer access to medications that are deemed safe and necessary, while eliminating outdated regulations.

Requires that pharmacies implement this prescription drug discount benefit as a condition of participating in the Medicaid program. Requires the Department of Public Aid to make certain reports to the General Assembly and to execute necessary interagency agreements with the Department on Aging and the Department of Revenue.
