The amendment to Bill SB 601 adds clear guidelines for insurance coverage related to mental, emotional, or nervous disorders. Specifically, it ensures that applicants can choose their healthcare provider and specifies that treatment costs may be partially covered, with the insured potentially responsible for 50% of expenses, and an annual benefit cap of either $10,000 or 25% of the lifetime limit. This change is significant because it broadens access to mental health services while also establishing clear financial expectations for individuals seeking care.
