The amendments to Bill SB 679 now clarify that employment agencies and labor organizations cannot engage in discriminatory practices based on citizenship status. The changes add specificity regarding how these agencies must handle job referrals and apprenticeship opportunities to ensure fairness. This is important because it aims to protect individuals, particularly those from immigrant backgrounds, from unfair treatment in the hiring process. Ultimately, the bill seeks to foster a more inclusive job market.
