The revised version of Bill SB 2552 introduces specific purposes for an equity assessment on nonparticipating tobacco manufacturers, emphasizing goals like preventing underage smoking and protecting state funding linked to the Master Settlement Agreement. The changes clarify that the funds generated will be used for enforcement and administration of related tobacco laws. This is significant because it aims to enhance state efforts to curtail illegal sales and ensure that revenue intended for public health programs is not compromised.
