What changed in the latest version

The revised version of Bill SB 609 updates the Energy Conservation Code by replacing a 2002 supplement with a 2001 supplement, and it broadens the scope of individuals who will receive implementation materials about the Code. Additionally, the bill removes a previous restriction that limited local governments (home rule units) from adopting their own energy efficiency standards, thereby allowing for more local control in this area. These changes matter because they aim to enhance communication and compliance support for various professionals while also empowering local governments to tailor energy efficiency standards to better suit their communities.
