Plain-language change summary

The recent amendment to Bill SB 984 clarifies that if there are any conflicts between this new Act and existing laws regarding employment, the provisions of this Act will take priority. It establishes that collective bargaining agreements made under this Act will prevail over opposing statutes, ensuring that negotiated employee rights are upheld. This matters because it strengthens the protections and agreements made by workers, ensuring they are not undermined by other regulations. Additionally, the removal of a previous section emphasizes that existing collective agreements will remain valid, further safeguarding employee rights during the transition to the new Act.
