Plain-language change summary

The amendment to Bill HB 666 updates the Illinois Exotic Weed Act to explicitly include certain plants, such as Japanese honeysuckle and multiflora rose, as designated exotic weeds. This change allows for better management of these invasive species, as they can harm local ecosystems. Additionally, the amendment removes references to the Illinois Natural Areas Preservation Act, indicating a focus solely on addressing the challenges posed by exotic weeds. This is important because streamlining the legislation helps clarify efforts to protect native environments.
