The amendment to HB 4532 changes the focus of the bill from creating a Southern Illinois Economic Development Authority to establishing a Southeastern Illinois Economic Development Authority. This updated version emphasizes not only economic development but also addresses critical issues like housing, community pride, and access to services essential for improving residents' quality of life. By highlighting these social factors, the bill aims to create a more comprehensive approach to supporting communities and reducing unemployment in the region.
