What changed in the latest version

The latest version of HB 1358 changes the language regarding liability for those who violate certain driving regulations. Previously, it referred to a "punitive" expense for emergency responses, but it has been amended to state that violators will be liable for the "expense" of the emergency response instead. This adjustment is important because it clarifies the kind of liability imposed on drivers, potentially making it easier to collect costs associated with emergencies they cause, and reflecting a focus on reimbursement rather than punishment.
