Plain-language change summary

The bill HB 393 has been amended to remove references to the Illinois Insurance Code and instead focuses on changes to the Illinois Income Tax Act regarding how certain tax-exempt organizations are treated. Specifically, it clarifies that organizations exempt from federal income tax under a specific section of the Internal Revenue Code should calculate their income differently, based on unrelated business taxable income. This matters because it helps ensure that tax rules are clear and consistent for organizations, potentially affecting their financial reporting and tax liabilities.
