What changed in the latest version

The changes to Bill SB 1983 include a new definition of "pharmacy" that expands what constitutes a pharmacy or drugstore, clarifying that it includes any place where pharmaceutical care is provided and where medications are sold or displayed. Additionally, the bill removes a provision that allowed the Department to grant pharmacist licenses without examination to applicants licensed in other jurisdictions, which could have skipped evaluating their qualifications. These updates aim to enhance consumer safety by ensuring that all pharmacists meet the same standards before practicing in Illinois.
