What changed in the latest version
10 added · 10 removedPlain-language change summary
The latest version of SB 267 now allows county boards to set different fees for various types of criminal and civil cases, with a requirement that the maximum fee amount must be specified. Previously, the bill did not contain provisions for differential rates or a cap on fees. This change is significant because it introduces more flexibility for counties in managing court-related fees, potentially making the system more equitable based on the nature of the case. It also ensures that there is a limit to how much can be charged, protecting the public from excessively high fees.
