Plain-language change summary

The recent changes to Bill SB 2216 introduce a new program that allows the Department of Public Health to offer matching grants for the purchase of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to public schools, park districts, and colleges. These grants require applicants to cover 50% of the costs, ensuring that organizations have some financial stake in acquiring the lifesaving devices. This amendment is important because it aims to increase access to AEDs in public spaces, potentially improving response to cardiac emergencies and saving lives.
