The proposed changes to SB 30 primarily update the exemptions in the Freedom of Information Act regarding what information can be withheld from public access. Specifically, the bill clarifies that while personal privacy is protected, information related to the public duties of officials is not subject to these privacy exemptions. This makes it easier for the public to access information about government employees' actions, promoting transparency and accountability. The changes are important because they aim to enhance public trust in government by improving access to relevant information while still protecting individual privacy rights.
