None Explanation The bill requires the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) to study and report on the feasibility of establishing a community geothermal pilot program by January 1, 2025.
The department is currently engaged in the design of a community geothermalpilotprogramatanaffordablehousingcomplexandintends to apply for federal funding to construct the system.
The department hassufficient expertise andresourcesto complete areport that islimited to DEEP's experience with this pilot program.
To the extent that the report may explore multi-owner community geothermal projects, a one- time cost of approximately $500,000 for a consultant may be expected.
The Out Years The bill has no fiscal impact in the out years.
