The recent amendments to Bill HB 5346 include plans for the Office of Early Childhood to study expanding the qualifications for early childhood teachers. Specifically, the bill now assesses whether experience in nontraditional and informal child care settings should count towards certification. This change is important because it could help diversify the pool of qualified teachers and ensure that those with relevant real-world experience are recognized, ultimately benefiting early childhood education. The findings of this study are expected to be reported by January 1, 2025.
