Acupuncture shall include, but not be limited to, the insertion of acupuncture needles and the application of moxibustion to specific areas of the human body and the use of electroacupuncture, Qi Gong, eastern oriental massage, herbal therapy, dietary guidelines, and other Page 1 of 87 CODING:

(2) "Acupuncturist" means a practitioner of the healing arts any person licensed as provided in this chapter to practice acupuncture as a primary health care provider.
(6) "Eastern Oriental medicine" means the use of a healingpractice art that employs assessment, health history, physical examination, and the use of acupuncture diagnosis and diagnostic techniques, includingthe referraluse forof diagnostic imaging and clinical laboratory testing to evaluate, manage, and correct a condition using acupuncture, electroacupuncture, Qi Gong, eastern oriental massage, herbal therapy, dietary guidelines, acupoint injection, manual therapy, and other adjunctive therapies.
(8) "Practice of acupuncture" means to provide primary health care and treatment services that apply traditional Chinese medical concepts, anatomy and physiology, and modern eastern medical techniques using acupuncture and eastern medicine, and the exercise of prescriptive rights as provided under subsection (9) to identify and evaluate and manage abnormal conditions, for the promotion, Page 2 of 87 CODING:

The practice of acupuncture includes,includes but is not limited to, the stimulation of points, areas of the body, and tissues using needles,needles devices, and otherdevices. means defined by board rule;
(9)(7) "Prescriptive rights" means the exerciseprescription, administration, and use of prescriptiveneedles rightsand asdevices, setrestricted forthdevices, and prescription devices, and the recommendation for or ordering of, or administration of herbs, homeopathics, and other nutritional supplements in thissterile chapter;form that are used in the practice of acupuncture and eastern oriental medicine unless otherwise prohibited by state or federal law or regulation.

893.02 or other medications not used for the practice of acupuncture.
(b) Has completed 60 college credits from an accredited postsecondaryPage institution3 as a prerequisite to enrollment in an authorized 3-year course of study7 inCODING: acupuncture and oriental medicine, and has completed a 3-year course of study in acupuncture and oriental medicine, and effective July 31, 2001, a 4-year course of study in acupuncture and eastern oriental medicine, which meets standards established by the board by rule, including which standards include, but are not limited to, successful completion of academic courses in western anatomy, western physiology, western pathology, western biomedical terminology, first aid, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
However, any person who enrolled in an authorized course of study in acupuncture before August 1, 1997, must have completed only a 2-year course of study which meets standards established by the board by rule, which standards must include, but are not limited to, successful completion of academic courses in western Page 4 of 8 CODING:
hb803-00hb803-01-c1 F L O R I D A H O U S E O F R E P R E S E N T A T I V E S HBCS/HB 803 2025 postsecondary institution as a prerequisite to enrollment in an authorized 3-year course of study in acupuncture and oriental medicine, and has completed a 3-year course of study in acupuncture and oriental medicine, and effective July 31, 2001, a 4-year course of study in acupuncture and eastern oriental medicine, which meets standards established by the board by rule, including which standards include, but are not limited to, successful completion of academic courses in western anatomy, western physiology, andwestern pathology, western pathology;biomedical terminology, first aid, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and 60 hours of study in injection therapy.
(c)However, Hasany successfullyperson who enrolled in an authorized course of study in acupuncture before August 1, 1997, must have completed only a board-approved2-year nationalcourse examinationof andstudy certificationwhich processmeets and,standards meetsestablished by the requirementsboard forby licensurerule, bywhich endorsementstandards undermust s.include, but are not limited to, successful completion of academic courses in western anatomy, western physiology, and western pathology;
(c) Has successfully completed a board-approved national examination and certification process or, meets the requirements for licensure by endorsement under s.
