Plain-language change summary

The revised version of SB 988 makes home inspection reports and applications for the My Safe Florida Home Program exempt from public records laws, protecting applicants' personal information such as email addresses, phone numbers, and sensitive details about their homes. This change is important because it aims to prevent identity theft and unwanted solicitations by keeping this private information out of the hands of the general public. The previous version required a broader range of information to be kept confidential, but the new focus is more specifically on the personal details that can lead to privacy risks.
