Plain-language change summary

The amendment to Bill HB 1689 expands its focus from just Merrimack County to include Belknap County, extending the term of certain elected county officers in both counties to 4 years. Additionally, it establishes that elections for these officers in Merrimack County will take place during presidential elections every four years. This change is significant because it streamlines the election process and aligns it with larger national voting events, potentially increasing voter turnout and engagement.
