The recent amendment to HB 7 clarifies the definitions of "cash assistance" and "public assistance," specifically excluding foster care and related payments from these terms. Additionally, it now mandates that cash withdrawn through electronic benefit transfer (EBT) cards must only be used for essential family needs such as food and housing. This change is important because it aims to ensure that public funds are being used appropriately for the welfare of families, potentially preventing misuse of assistance benefits.
