The updated version of HB 4641 clarifies that the bill focuses on strengthening school nutrition programs by aligning them with federal guidelines. It reinforces that schools should actively participate in federal meal programs to provide free meals to students. Additionally, it specifies that if federal funding for these nutrition programs is cut, schools have the option to continue them using their own resources. Lastly, it confirms that teachers cannot be required to oversee breakfast program operations as part of their regular duties. These changes help ensure that children have more consistent access to nutritious meals in schools.
