requiring hospitals and ambulatory surgical centers, by a specified date, to adopt and implement policies requiring the use of smoke evacuation systems during certain surgical procedures;
requiring hospitals and ambulatory surgical centers, by a specified date, to adopt and implement policies to prevent patients and personnel from being exposed to harmful surgical smoke;
(a) “Smoke evacuation system” means equipment that effectively captures, filters, and eliminates surgical smoke at the point of origin before the smoke makes contact with the eyes or respiratory tracts of occupants in the room.
(a) “Smoke evacuation system” means equipment that effectively captures and filters surgical smoke before the smoke makes contact with the eyes or respiratory tracts of occupants in the room.
(2) By January 1, 2027, each licensed facility shall adopt and implement policies that require the use of a smoke evacuation system during any surgical procedure that is likely to generate surgical smoke.
