This bill died with 2009-2010, 2nd Special Session. It reached “In Committee” and never advanced before the session ended, so it can no longer move — a new version would have to be reintroduced in the current session.
This bill is no longer active — its legislative session has ended, so there is no live prognosis. It would have to be reintroduced in the current session to move again.
Summary
Under existing law, the Bureau of State Audits has statutory audit and evaluation duties. This bill would require the State Auditor, on or before January 1, 2010, and every 2 years thereafter, to conduct a performance evaluation of every state government program and expenditure, and submit a report of the results of that evaluation to the Legislature. This bill would also require the State Auditor to make the report easily available to the public, and the Legislature to appropriate funds to the State Auditor sufficient to fulfill these duties.
