In the latest version of Bill SB 877, the focus has shifted from analyzing a proposed payroll tax to defining property tax and motor vehicle tax for future taxable years. This change is important because it sets clear guidelines for municipalities on how and when property taxes will be collected starting January 1, 2023. By establishing a firm framework for these taxes, it aims to provide more certainty for taxpayers and local governments alike regarding tax obligations.
