The recent amendment to Bill B 26-0630 makes it clear that electric companies cannot disconnect service for non-payment during the "remand interim period," which is the time after a court vacates a previously approved rate plan until a new plan is established. Additionally, it allows for a grace period of 15 days after this interim period before disconnections can occur, unless the household has a very high outstanding balance. This change is important because it provides temporary protection for consumers, ensuring they have a buffer against service disconnections during a transition period that can be financially stressful.
