Plain-language change summary

The bill has been amended to clarify that individuals sentenced for crimes committed on or after October 1, 1994, excluding certain serious offenders, may earn risk reduction credits to shorten their sentences. Additionally, it specifies that people who previously earned good time credits can still use those credits to reduce their sentences, but no new good time credits can be earned after the effective date of this section. This change matters because it outlines how previous good time credits can be applied while limiting the ability to earn new ones moving forward.
