Plain-language change summary

The amendment to SB 522 adds clarifications regarding the process for allowing victims to make statements before the court during sentencing. Specifically, it emphasizes that the court must inquire about the presence of victims or any submitted statements and may postpone proceedings to ensure a victim can participate. This change aims to better ensure that victim input is considered prior to the acceptance of plea agreements, reflecting a clear procedural requirement for the court's actions in such cases.
