The amendment to Bill SB 257 adds the requirement that residents' advocates have access to additional services and clarifies the training and removal process for advocates. It specifies that advocates must serve residents of long-term care facilities and recipients of home and community-based services, with an emphasis on identifying and resolving complaints affecting the health, safety, welfare, or rights of these individuals. Additionally, the responsibilities of the State Ombudsman are expanded to incorporate regulations for these advocates, which helps ensure that there is a structured approach to overseeing long-term care and community service standards.
